Composite Veneers

A young lady came with her mum for some advice recently. This young lady has been living with grossly discoloured central incisors for years (I wonder why the parents hv waited so long) before seeking treatment. On top of that, she has generalised flourosis. During consultation, she was very shy n reluctant to smile or open her mouth.  Options given; bleaching and veneers- porcelain or composite. She (her mum actually) chose composite veneers.

Three Dinners and A Lunch

The wedding's finally over! Phew!! Not that I dread going thru it (How could I? It's MY big day..) but havinga a wedding that stretched for more that a week isn't something U see regularly (I dun mean the royalties, but a commoner like me). Within a span of 9 days, we had the wedding reception, twice-- the 9-course chinese dinner; a church ceremony followed by a buffet dinner; and  performed the chinese custom of picking-n-receiving-the-bride n again lunch for guests. In between the events, we had our honeymoon in Phuket for 4D/3N, took loads of pics n videos that needed 6 photo albums and made into the news.

Sounds too grand, and perhaps a lil' overboard for a wedding eh? Whether u believe or not, all these were really unintentional. I wanted a simple reception for my frens n family members in a restaurant only. I got it. My parents wanted a chinese style wedding- the groom to come n take me to his house, they got it. My hubby wanted a simple church ceremony, he got it. My in-laws wanted to invite many frens n family members, hence in the 4-star hotel, they got it. Hubby's fren wanted to write a story of us in the newspaper he works in, he got it. I wanted a honeymoon by the beach, n he wanted a cheap one, and we got one free (thanks to his dad for making it possible).

You see...it's a wedding according to our wishes; only that we hv different wishes n when U excecute the plan, it got bigger n more complicated. Nevertheless, everyone's happy in the end (including urs truly) n that's what really matters;)

P/S- Due to the large amount of photos taken, I'm still in the midst of uploading them onto flickr. Shall send a link to u guys soon...

Stressed Up!!!!!

I'm so stressed up!!! Got all my gowns from the bridal studio today. When I tried again with the shoes, accesories, bra etc, I found out all three of them hv problems either here or there. Can't breathe in two of them, the gowns too long I kept stepping on it, the alteration was horrendous!! I'll hv to call them tmrw n demand another alteration...

I'm so worried I got a breakout!! I thought acne is a thing in the past but why la...now all flaring up again!!!!

My mind's so muddled  I dun think I can sleep tonight. The wedding is in a week's time;(

The Preparation Thus Far...

3 more weeks to go, and I start to feel a lil anxious from organising for my big day. 2 months ago, I was quite relax despite a relatively short notice to start planning everything from scratch. From booking the restaurant (for my reception n hotel for his) to taking wedding photos, renovationg his bedroom to selecting n buying furnitures, curtains, bedsheets and a thousand over items for the bridal room;). All these within a mere 8 weeks! And printing wedding cards and booking the flights n hotel for my honeymoon. Thank God for all the help we could get from the ever helpful family members n frens.

The few weeks to come, I still hv corsages to select n order, gown for church ceremony to alter (bl%#dy tailor got it screwed up), selecting gowns for the reception, preparing the wedding gifts, planning the guests seating (which is another big headache), lots shopping to do...n memorising my wedding vows!

At the same time, his brother n the gf are planning their wedding for march next year. Despite us being the quite 'cincai' couple, where I dun fuss over the colour of my theme or the music for the wedding march (I hv my future mum-in-law to take care of that!), I can't help but to compare ourselves with them. They hv a whole year to plan n us only 3 months!! After seeing their wedding pics, I felt a bit envious-- their bridal studio is clearly a better one that ours. Better gowns, better photographs, the list goes on. I can't complain though coz I chose the bridal studio, after surveying only 2.

At this point, I dun wanna know more of their plans. That'll only dampen my spirit; for I hvn't put in enough effort to make it really special n perfect due to time constraint. Then again, I was told that weddings, most of the time, wouldn't go as perfectly as planned. Somehow somewhere, there'll be a few hiccups along the way. A less than perfect wedding is fine, so to make way for a perfect marriage...;)

Try This If U Dare

U gotta try it atleast once in ur lifetime right? Something bold..something outrageous, something creative...something different. So that when u r lying in ur deathbed finally, U can proudly pat urselves at the back for having lived a life with no regrets coz u  hd done it before....

I'm talking about....

Nice teeth eh;p?

placing a 'diamond' on my tooth!!

Hey! I hv to somewhat 'mutilate' my perfectly smooth enamel to stick the 'diamond' up. This a sacrifice in the name of beauty..no?

Wonder if I'm game enough to keep this till my wedding day..;p?

Dentist From Hell

I was at my godson's birthday party the other day when the urge of going back to being an ordinary tukang gigi like the days in the govt service came to mind. While exchanging work tales with my dental colleagues, I secretly envisionned myself working only 3 days a week, doing mostly scaling n polishing n bleaching..n once a blue moon, RCTs n crowns n bridges-- pretty much a relatively risk-free n stress-free job.

Perhaps the recent event of treating a chinese lady (it's more of HER misfortune to hv landed in my hands) that spurred that thought. And I was so demoralised n dejected by that traumatising experience;(

The thing is, how much job satisfaction can I get from doing a relatively challenge-free and close-one-eye-also-can-do job? I wanna be all rounded, do all sorts of procedures, lest my 5-year dental school be gone to waste. Yet, at the same time, I dun wanna lie awake at nite thinking of  my ortho pts' malaligned teeth, the plausible complications of the MOS I did during the day, or whether my RCTs would flare up.

Which comes to the case I wanna blog about. U can call this the patient from hell. Mmm..not really, she's not been nasty or been demanding or anything. I shall attribute the whole episode to the 'clash of the aura'..or u call it having the opposite 'chi'. We r just not meant for each other. Patient-dentist relationship I mean. Perhaps my being her dentist from hell is more apt.

This lady, S came in one afternoon about  two months ago, when I was about to leave for lunch. She had a grossly carious 25, asymptomatic n in need of an RCT n a crown. It was meant to be a consultation, but then she decided to just do it there n then. Big mistake!! I commenced the RCT n the horror story began. Two days later, she came back with a flare up, in extreme pain, n I had a difficult time removing the paper point from the palatal canal. No thanks to its very tiny canals. Her confidence in me-- plummetted of course. After a few visits, when the RCT's subsequently completed, I had to do a gingivectomy due to its short crown height. Yupe, she came back again 2 days later with an infection over the gum. Another round of debridement n cleaning of wound.

When finally her crown was ready, the gum had pretty much healed..and I thought that'll be the last of me seeing her, as u can gauge by now how much she must hv abhorred me for causing her so much pain n agony. Unfortunately, the nightmare's not over, yet. During cementation, I accidentally knocked on the crown..n **horror** a small part of the porcelain chipped off though it's hidden n only visible if u see with a mouth mirror. What would u do if u were me? I can't possibly remove it as it'd already been cemented. So I did the most cowardly thing (n I'm so ashamed of myself;( ).. I just kept quiet about it n pray she wouldn't pull her cheek to examine it.

My prayer wasn't answered, of course. She found out about it n came back again for an explanation. And I had to tell her the truth. I offered her an alternative; that's to redo the whole crown or a refund coz I really din feel like treating her again. It's like whatever I do would only go wrong on her. I can bet my last dollar that she wouldn't want me to touch her again too. To repeat the whole process n having her come barging back every 2 days after a procedure is like being chained to a time bomb. The restlessness I felt that she might call anytime, any day with another bout of complication was so tremendous that I thought I might get a nervous breakdown

We made a pact, wait for another month for any signs n symptoms. Then, come back with a decision. And I shall refer her to my colleague, n ** crossing my finger ** hope they'll be alright with each other....

Made In China

Fu-yoh!! It's been a while since I last updated this blog. Thousand apologies for the silence. Been extremely busy these days. I shall let u know when the time is right;)

My sis is back again from China. Each time she's back, she'd bring home food, fruits, n stuff from there. Shall mention a few items I  enjoy tremendously that r distinctively aplenty there.

Cherries!!!! These r quite delicious though a lil' sourish (as they'r from the end of the season). These r not those u put as cake toppings as we usually see in m'sia. U  can stomach a big bowlful of these n still yearn for more;p

Peaches!!!! Extremely sweet n aromatic. She brought home a few cartons (!!) freshly plugged from the trees during her last trip. So, this time around, we r perfectly happy with just a small boxful of them.

CDs!!!! The CDs r damn cheap there. Original CDs (I presume la coz they r sold legally in music stores) are priced from RMB18-38 (RM9-19). I'm turning a new leaf. No more pirated CDs for me...as long as the cheap CDs from China r available n forthcoming:)

The Parcels Have Arrived..

My new laptop has arrived!! Placed the order on sun nite. Received a call from the sales person on mon morning, confirmation on tue n another call to inform the arrival time...n hurrah!! it's delivered to my door steps yesterday morning!! That's what I call efficient n effective . Cekap n Pantas!!

Another good news; I was selected among the other dell clients the chance to own a colour printer-cum-scanner at a very special price--RM38 (the actual price is RM139). Of course I said yes la.. though I dun need another printer. So, the kiasu me agreed on the spot over the phone to purchase the printer. Plan to sell it later to my bro who's looking for a colour printer..Of course I'll sell him at the offer price la, u think what...

(My bro bought his deLL Inspiron 6400 a week earlier n he wasn't offered the printer..So I'm very lucky hor?)

I've been scouting for a new laptop for quite sometime as my current laptop is already 4 1/2 years old, but being a computer dummy, I din know what to buy. After much dilly-dallying, n impressed with my bro's brand new dell, I decided to buy the same one:) Plus, I think dElL's still the most economical n value-for-my-hard-earned-money pc.

Dunno head or tail how to set up the laptop. I'm still browsing the owner's manual for tips to maximise the usage of my new pc.

Dell Inspiron 6400 with Mediterranean Blue Colour Kit

I chose Microsoft Windows XP instead of the latest Vista as I've heard of much grouses from ppl I know whom opted for the latter. Moreover, I dun think the ciplak Microsoft Vista operating system is available in the market yet..hehe..

Now I hv two laptops..I'm awaiting my bro to help me set up the internet connection on my new laptop, n to transfer all my pics, songs, bookmarks, trash etc to this new one.. Then, I'll be able to listen to my CDs again, n to chat online, n to watch DVDs, uTube...gosh! I wanna do so much on my new laptop...;D

P/S: I'm offering my old laptop at RM500 (bought it at RM3400, k) It's not spoilt, just infected with virus (hence the sound problem).  Any taker?
